Mandy thanked her waitress and smiled at her dinner. She'd had a long day at work. I wasn't too hard, just long, with lots of running around and she knew that once she made it home, she wouldn't be in any mood to cook. So she stopped in at Leaky for a bite to eat. A large helping of lasagne steamed on the plate with a glass of red wine next to it. Cracking her knuckles, she tucked in slowly, savouring the taste of the dish.
She looked around at the patrons with a feeling that something was a bit off. Usually if she came in for an evening, there were families sitting about and children of various ages making noise. Tonight was quiet with mostly adults. Suddenly the import of the date hit her.
'Oh merciful Merlin, it's the first of September!' She thought with a shake of her head. It had been so long since she'd made her last trek to Platform 9 3/4 that she'd forgotten that it was approaching.
"Hmmmm..." She mumbled. "It's September already. My how time flies." She continued eating, curious as to how things were going at the school in these newer times. Last she heard, the renovations had gone well, and the school was running as normally as Hogwarts could.
